TEKKEN 8 and Nike Collaboration Debuts at EVO 2024

Sneakerheads and fighters, brace yourselves! Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. has dropped a bombshell at EVO 2024, revealing a major collaboration with Nike. This power move introduces the legendary Nike brand into the TEKKEN universe, promising to spice up both the digital and real-world arenas.

Epic Announcement on EVO Stage

Bandai Namco took center stage at EVO with a presentation that had fans buzzing. The collaboration, dubbed Nike x TEKKEN 8, teases in-game gear arriving this Fall. We’re talking about digital Nike Air Foamposite One sneakers, inspired by none other than Jin Kazama and Kazuya Mishima. And for the real-world flex? A limited-edition physical Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Kazuya Mishima’ sneaker was up for grabs for the lucky attendees.

The Ultimate Mic Drop

The announcement was led by the heavy hitters: TEKKEN Project Director Katsuhiro Harada, TEKKEN 8 Game Director Kohei Ikeda, and Producer Michael Murray. They dropped hints about the upcoming in-game content, with a trailer showcasing characters strutting their stuff in Nike Air Foamposite One sneakers. The iconic Nike swoosh even made an appearance on billboards in the Urban Square level, giving the game a fresh new vibe.

As a grand finale, Harada, Ikeda, Murray, and the Nike team dropped a bombshell – the physical Nike Air Foamposite One ‘Kazuya Mishima’ sneakers. These sleek black kicks, a nod to Kazuya’s signature style, were available in super limited quantities. EVO attendees had the chance to cop these exclusive sneakers via the Nike SNKRS app. More details on the Nike x TEKKEN collab, including additional in-game content, will be revealed this Fall.

Heihachi Mishima Returns in TEKKEN 8

But wait, there's more! Bandai Namco isn’t done yet. They also announced the return of Heihachi Mishima, the King of Iron Fist, in a new character reveal trailer at EVO 2024. Heihachi joins the TEKKEN 8 roster as the next DLC character this Fall, following fan favorites like Eddy Gordo and Lidia Sobieska.

TEKKEN 8: New Chapter, New Thrills

For the first time ever, TEKKEN 8 is getting a free story expansion. “The Dark Awakens” continues the epic saga of the Kazama and Mishima families. This free update adds a whole new chapter to the story mode, bringing more drama and intense battles to the game.

TEKKEN World Tour 2024 Finals in Tokyo

The hype didn’t stop there. Following an epic conclusion to the EVO 2024 finals, where Arslan Ash claimed his fifth EVO championship against his friend and practice partner, Atif, Bandai Namco announced the location of the TEKKEN World Tour 2024 Finals. The finals will go down in Tokyo, Japan on December 8, 2024, with group stages kicking off on December 5.

The Bottom Line

This collaboration between TEKKEN 8 and Nike is a game-changer, blending the worlds of fighting games and sneaker culture. Whether you’re a hardcore TEKKEN fan or a sneaker aficionado, there’s plenty to look forward to this Fall. Stay tuned for more updates as Bandai Namco and Nike continue to level up the game.
